Local business owners behind downtown Shops of Mainstreet in Valley Mills are organzing a 9/11 Tribute Fundraiser, with all proceeds benefitting the Valley Mills Police Department and Valley Mills Volunteer Fire Department. The event will feature dinner, a live and silent auction, and fellowship from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, September 11. The venue will be the Civic Center at 101 Avenue E.

A bunch of the shops and boutiques in downtown Valley Mills are wanting to put together a tribute for the 20-year anniversary of 9/11. There were plenty of things that our first responders in Valley Mills needed, whether it was bunker gear for the Valley Mills Volunteer Fire Department [and] then the Valley Mills Police Department had some gear that was outdated [and] pretty essential. We're going to do a fundraiser that will be split and benefit both those organizations.

Silent and live auction items are being sought for the event as well, with those interested encouraged to call 254-652-0922. Call Stephanie at 254-315-4047. Tickets are available at downtown businesses, like The Foundry, the Painted Bunting, BeBe’s Back Porch, The Cattleman’s Wife, and others in downtown. The cost per tickets is $40, including dinner and beverages. Some items already planned for silent and live auctions include some Yeti coolers, a Traeger Grill, and some guns.

Dinner is expected to be traditional Texas barbecue with a baked potato bar, salad, and desserts. Area bakers are being requested to provide delicious desserts as well.
