Valley Mills approves Interim City Secretary, accepts $292,000 grant for Sewer, Water and Infrastructure

Valley Mills City Council met Monday, August 9, in regular session, and adjourned to executive session. After returning, the council voted to allow an investigation into recent allegations. Lana Kilmke was named Interim City Secretary until a permanent hire is found.

Mayor Josh Thayer announced that Valley Mills will receive the $292,000 for sewer, water and infrastructure repair and upgrades, from the U.S. Treasury CLRF grant program and Texas Division of Emergency Management. Funds will be released later this month, with half to be provided this summer and the other half in summer 2022. A detailed list of specific updates and repairs will be announced later this month. 

Discussion on the budget for the 2021-2022 fiscal year was discussed, but tabled for a future vote. Benny Powers was also recognized for the Landscape Yard of the Month.
