Authorities are looking into a Christmas shooting at Phoenix’s Sky Harbor Airport that resulted in three gunshot wounds and one stabbing. According to the police, a family conflict was the cause of the event.
According to Phoenix police, the incident occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. at an airport eatery located outside Terminal 4 security checks.
Two adult males and an adult female were shot; the female’s injuries are described by the authorities as potentially fatal. According to a police statement, the two men’s conditions were stable and they were expected to live. The condition of the hospitalized man who had been stabbed at least once was stable.
According to authorities, the group of persons, who all knew one another, got into a physical altercation and one of them pulled a revolver.
I do think that this was a family argument that got out of hand, Sgt. Mayra Reeson of Phoenix police told reporters.
Following the shooting, a man and a female were taken into custody in a nearby airport parking garage. Information on potential charges was not immediately made public by the police. They were still looking into whether the gang was traveling or had another cause for being at the airport.
Due to the gunshots, the terminal’s PHX Sky Train station had a halt in service, several restaurants were forced to close, and a security checkpoint was temporarily closed.
Since it was Christmas evening and everyone was attempting to get home, it was understandably frightening, Reeson added.
Following the shooting and stabbing, a man arrived at the airport late on Wednesday night brandishing a gun in what Reeson described as an entirely separate event.
According to Reeson, this man got a text message indicating that he thought there was an active shooter at Sky Harbor.
After that, the man got into a fight with a policeman and was taken into custody within the airport. He will be booked into jail, Reeson said. Charges against him were not immediately known.
