A dramatic manhunt in Texas came to a swift conclusion Sunday as authorities apprehended an escaped inmate just miles from the prison where he was serving a 20-year sentence.
Kidanny Robles, 33, who had fled from the Clemens Unit trusty camp in Angleton, was taken into custody after a brief pursuit during which he was shot in the arm for failing to comply with commands, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
As covered by nbcnews Robles, originally incarcerated for aggravated robbery, robbery, burglary, and possession of a controlled substance, was discovered missing during a routine inspection at midnight on Sunday.
The facility he escaped from is known for housing inmates who require minimal supervision outside the main prison.
This isn’t Robles’ first encounter with the law; after being paroled in 2021, he returned to the camp due to a parole violation in 2023. Now facing felony escape charges, Robles will once again be in the custody of the Texas criminal justice system.
