Officers from the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to an accident between two cars at the junction of Dessau Road and Collinwood West Drive on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at around 8 p.m. Due to injuries received in the collision, the driver of one vehicle, Marianne Ashley Agusto, 34, was taken to a nearby hospital and subsequently declared dead on November 23, 2024.
The second vehicle’s driver stayed at the site, was unharmed, and is assisting with the current investigation.
With this incident, Austin has now experienced 80 fatal crashes in 2024, bringing the total to 85. In contrast, 76 fatal collisions with 79 fatalities occurred on the same date in 2023.
