Pedestrian Killed in Early Morning Collision on Underwood Road in La Porte

The La Porte Police Department (LPPD) responded to an automobile-pedestrian collision in the 3300 block of Underwood Road on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at around 5:45 a.m.

When La Porte Police, Fire, and EMS arrived on the scene, they discovered that a male pedestrian who had not been recognized had been hit by a northbound car as he crossed the street. After being flown by air medical to a nearby hospital, the pedestrian passed away from his wounds.

According to the preliminary inquiry, the pedestrian crossed in front of the car and entered the crosswalk illegally. Due to inadequate lighting, the motorist was unable to notice the pedestrian and stopped right away. They then called 911 and provided investigators with their full cooperation. According to authorities, the driver is not anticipated to face any charges.

The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office report is still waiting, and the LPPD Crash Reconstruction Team is still investigating the event.
