Baytown Prisoner Escapes During Transfer, Recaptured Hours Later by Metro Police

Daniel Douglas, a 22-year-old prisoner, broke out of custody during his transfer to the Harris County Joint Processing Center at around noon on Thursday, December 5. As the car gate was opened to let another police vehicle go, Douglas, a resident of Baytown, ran out of the sally port area.

When Douglas was last seen, he was dressed in black tennis shoes, gray sweatpants with red stripes around the knees, and a black t-shirt. According to the description, he is a 5 10 Black male that weighs about 180 pounds, has short black hair, and brown eyes.

With the help of Baytown Police officers and the Special Investigations Division, Harris County authorities set up a command post and began a search after the escape. Because of the serious nature of the charges against him, Douglas was initially charged with aggravated assault in a case involving domestic violence, which raised concerns about public safety.

After a few hours, Douglas was found and taken into custody by Metro Police. His record now includes an escape charge from the Baytown Police Department.

It is advised that anyone interested in learning more about the case call the Baytown Police Department at (281) 422-8371.
