Three-Month Investigation Leads to Major Drug Bust in Brazoria County, Suspect in Custody

On December 6, 2024, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Southern Brazoria County SWAT Team, the Brazoria County Special Response Team, and the Brazoria County Narcotics Task Force carried out a search warrant at a home located in the 23000 block of SH 35 in Sweeny, Texas.

Following a three-month narcotics investigation, the operation yielded the recovery of 3.9 pounds of marijuana, 326 grams of fentanyl, 168 grams of cocaine, and roughly 655 grams of methamphetamine. It is estimated that the drugs have a street value of $89,000.

Authorities also found about $29,839 in cash and three guns, two of which were reported stolen.

Korey Tolbert was the suspect, and he was arrested on the spot. He is charged with several felonies related to drugs, including:

  • Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 400 grams or more (F1),
  • Two counts of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 200 grams or more but less than 400 grams (F1),
  • Possession of Marijuana Five Pounds or Less (SJF).
