Gresham 18-year-old arrested in Clackamas Town Center parking lot shooting

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office detained a Gresham man in relation to the Friday shooting death of a teenager in the parking lot of the Clackamas Town Center.

According to the sheriff’s office, Pedro Anthony Cornejo-Morales, 18, was taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree assault, second-degree assault, unauthorized use of a weapon, and second-degree attempted murder on Saturday. He may have shot the hand of a 15-year-old child. To receive treatment, the youngster was brought to the hospital.

The gunman ran away after the shooting, but deputies discovered Cornejo-Morales concealed behind a neighboring building. He was arrested at the Clackamas County Jail on Friday evening.

No further information regarding a potential motive was disclosed by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday.

A relative told The Oregonian/OregonLive on Friday that a teenage kid was in a car attempting to flee when at least one shooter started fire. The teenager was picked up and sent to a hospital after he managed to leap out of the vehicle and run across the parking lot.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, detectives are eager to speak with anyone who may have information regarding the incident. The Sheriff’s Office Tip Line can be reached via phone at 503-723-4949 or by the online email form at http://www.clackamas.us/sheriff/tip, according to the statement.
