On a flight from Seattle to Phoenix, Alaska Airlines’ Boeing 737 MAX experienced extreme turbulence, resulting in the hospitalization of four crew members.
Although one of the passengers on Alaska Airlines Flight 700 was hurt in the midafternoon incident on Thursday, the airline said on Saturday that the passenger was treated at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and was not admitted to the hospital.
A representative for Alaska stated in an emailed statement on Saturday that the jet experienced extreme turbulence at roughly 2:30 p.m. Mountain Standard Time, prompting medical personnel to meet it at the gate and provide medical assistance to several crew members and one guest.
According to Alaska, the airline is protecting the privacy of the crew members by not disclosing information on the extent of their injuries or whether they are hospitalized.
In a statement, the airline expressed gratitude to its committed staff for their professionalism and competence in handling the issue and said it was supporting them while they sought further medical care. The company also expressed regret for any worry this event may have caused its passengers.
According to the agency’s website, the incident, which involved a Boeing 737 MAX 9, is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration. After the flight crew reported a medical emergency due to strong turbulence, the aircraft made a safe landing at approximately 3:10 p.m., according to the FAA.
Less than a week has passed since a passenger on an Alaska Airlines 737 parked at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport walked onto the wing and opened the emergency exit. This incident occurred on Thursday.
According to a story by KOMO, airport officials claimed the woman opened the emergency exit because she was nervous while the plane, which had just landed from Milwaukee, was unloading.
The woman was transferred to a hospital for assessment after emergency personnel assisted her in leaving the wing, according to KOMO.
