To Eric, I read your column every day and I just adore it. Because your advise is clear-cut, accurate, reasonable, and kind, I don’t miss it.
I therefore recognized myself in the letter from a friend of the woman who is incredibly helpful and pleasant to everyone, but who is cruel and domineering toward her spouse (Bad Mouthing Do-Gooder). Not as the friend, but as the woman, who is thankfully not overly dramatic.
Although my husband is a nice man with many wonderful traits, I can still see room for improvement in our relationship. He is not perfect, though, since he occasionally acts a little self-centered.
I took a deep breath after reading the essay, took a giant step back, let go, and told myself that I could be a better person. This is my motto since I promised myself that I would do this. Improve yourself. I appreciate your column and am happy that I may adjust as necessary.
