Clatsop County Coast and Tillamook County Coast under a high surf advisory until Saturday night

The National Weather Service issued a high surf advisory for the Clatsop County Coast and Tillamook County Coast on Saturday at 3:28 a.m., which was in force until 10 p.m.

The weather service warns of “hazardous surf conditions and large waves.” 25 to 30 feet breakers.

“Minor flooding, up to one foot above ground level, during high tides is expected in the low-lying areas near bays, sloughs, and the lower reaches of the coastal rivers,” according to the weather service. “When there is a high surf advisory, beaches will be impacted by rip currents, sneaker waves, and beach erosion. Keep a considerable distance from the water’s edge and keep an eye out for particularly large waves. Avoid going near big logs on the beach. Logs can be readily lifted or rolled by water running up on the beach, which might kill or seriously hurt anyone in their path.
