There may be some new football players joining Class 5A.
On December 19, the Oregon School Activities Association’s football ad hoc committee convened and issued a draft suggestion for the football districts of 2025.
Willamette will be going back to Class 6A and joining Special District 1 as part of it.
Special District 1 would consist of Grants Pass, North Medford, North Salem, Sheldon, South Medford, South Salem, Sprague, West Salem, and the Wolverines, since Roseburg would remain be in Class 5A.

Cleveland, David Douglas, Gresham, and McNary are the four new teams joining Class 5A to replace Willamette.
Special District 2 will consist of Aloha, Canby, Cleveland, Forest Grove, Hillsboro, McKay, McNary, and Wilsonville. Cleveland and McNary will be joining this district.
Special District 1 will include the Scots, Gophers, Centennial, Hood River Valley, La Salle Prep, Milwaukie, Parkrose, and Putnam. David Douglas and Gresham will be attending this district.
The former Special District 2 was effectively divided by the new reconfiguration. The new Special District 3, which consists of Central, Corvallis, Dallas, Lebanon, Silverton, South Albany, and West Albany, is home to numerous teams.
Churchill, Crater, Eagle Point, North Eugene, Roseburg, Springfield, Thurston, and South Eugene will all be included in Special District 4.
Bend, Caldera, Crook County (which is upgrading from Class 4A in a school-wide change), Mountain View, Ridgeview, and Summit will comprise the Intermountain Conference.
For the second consecutive year, Class 6A has sent several teams to Class 5A and received one back. This past fall, Southridge returned to 6A, but Aloha, Glencoe, and Roseburg all fell to Class 5A.
In football, South Eugene and Forest Grove, both Class 6A teams, compete in Class 5A.
The ad hoc committee will have additional meetings to decide which teams will land where, and the classification changes are not yet official. The committee will meet again on January 8 and January 22.
The executive board of OSAA must adopt the ad hoc committee’s final recommendations. The board will meet on May 12 and February 3.
