Deadly Collision in South Austin Leaves One Dead, Two Injured

Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a collision involving a van and a sedan in the 2700 block of Barton Springs Road at 8:43 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024. After being taken to Dell Seton Medical Center, the van’s driver was declared dead. Due to non-life-threatening injuries, the sedan’s driver and a passenger were sent to the hospital.

With this occurrence, Austin has now experienced 79 fatal crashes in 2024, bringing the total number of fatalities to 84. In contrast, 82 people were killed in 79 fatal crashes that occurred in the city on the same date in 2023.
