A traffic stop was started by a Freeport Police Department officer on November 27, 2024, for a minor infraction. When the officer noticed a strong marijuana smell coming from the car during the stop, he ordered the driver to get out. Officers pursued the car down Highway 332 toward the Freeport Beach Buc-ee’s after he fled the scene.
During the pursuit, the fugitive driver tried to turn around, collided with the officer’s police car, and proceeded to drive into oncoming traffic. When the car hit a barrier, the pursuit came to a halt, and the driver and a passenger were arrested without any more problems.
Law police seized a number of illegal narcotics during the investigation, including crack cocaine, methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana, marijuana, and pharmaceuticals like codeine and Xanax.
Together, the driver and passenger are facing 16 charges. The Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS), Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office, Brazoria County Constable Precinct 1, and a local task force provided assistance to the Freeport Police Department.
