Eugene Jordan James, the running back for Oregon, is unsure about his plans for the upcoming year.
After the No. 1 Ducks finish their run in the College Football Playoffs, James, who has 1,253 rushing yards with 15 touchdowns and 202 receiving yards this season, said he has not made up his mind about whether to stay for his senior year or enter the 2025 NFL draft.
In lieu of the customary hard deadline of January 15, the NFL issued a soft deadline of January 6 for players whose seasons are finished to apply for special eligibility to enter this year’s draft. Players on the two teams participating in the College Football Playoff national title game on January 20 have a championship deadline of January 24.
In the event that James returns, UO would have seven scholarship running backs predicted for 2025, including Noah Whittington, who would have to opt out to return for a sixth season despite being automatically selected in this year’s draft.
