Oregon ski resorts have deepest snow in the country right now

For Oregon’s ski resorts, which are now boasting the deepest base depths in the nation, the rainy weather in the Willamette Valley has translated into plenty of snow.

Mount Hood Meadows and Timberline are reporting 96 inches of snow, and more is expected, according to onthesnow.com. The height of Mt. Bachelor is 93 in.

The quantity of snow that has collected on the mountain is known as the base depth.

On its website, Mount Hood Meadows predicts that it will be another stormy day. In addition to the totals from earlier this week, we received almost a foot of fresh snow overnight. Today, anticipate an additional 4 to 6 inches. Winds are moderate, although not as strong as they were yesterday.

According to Timberline, there has been 21 inches of snow in the last 24 hours.

The base depth was 84 inches yesterday after the Christmas Day storm brought 14 inches of snow over night, according to Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort. In a news release at the time, the resort claimed that it had the deepest base depth reading of any ski resort in the nation. Nine more inches had fallen by Friday morning, and three to six more inches are predicted today.

Additionally, the resort is alerting snowboarders and skiers to the risks associated with tree well hazards.

The resort advises people to ride or ski with a companion and to always keep an eye on them. Stay on well-maintained, open trails.
