Oregon State has football, basketball players who could benefit from NCAA ruling on additional eligibility

Oregon State may benefit from Monday’s NCAA decision, which gives former junior college transfers who have used up their eligibility another year.

Only athletes who spent a portion of their college eligibility at a non-NCAA institution, such as a junior college or NAIA, and who ran out of athletic eligibility after the 2024–25 academic year are eligible for the waiver.

A number of Oregon State athletes are eligible to compete in its top sports. This does not imply that they will play their sport in the 2025–2026 academic year; there needs to be a shared interest between the coach and the athlete, as well as a desire on the part of the player to continue their college education.

Outside linebacker Nikko Taylor, kicker Josh Green, and safety Alton Julian and Tyrice Ivy Jr. are the senior Oregon State football players from the 2024 roster who attended a non-NCAA institution for at least one year of their eligibility.

In fact, Taylor shared this on social media on Monday after the decision.

Three athletes who play basketball may be qualified. Damarco Minor is the men’s guard. Tiara Bolden and Catarina Ferreira are the female guards. Each of the three attended a junior college for a year.
