Portland firefighters pull woman from burning car following crash

Around 9 p.m. on Monday, Portland firemen pulled a woman from a flaming automobile, according to authorities.

According to Portland police on Thursday, when officers arrived at the scene of a crash near the intersection of Southeast Mt. Scott Boulevard and Southeast 112th Avenue at approximately 9 p.m., they discovered a car that had been involved in a single-vehicle collision with the engine compartment on fire.

The Portland Police Bureau reported Thursday afternoon that the motorist, a 47-year-old Portland woman, was stuck and on fire while speaking with a 911 operator. Officers and firefighters arrived, broke the windshield of the car, and dragged the woman to safety.

According to Portland police, the woman was admitted to the hospital with severe injuries and was still there as of Thursday. She has been cited by police for dangerous driving and DUI related to drinking, according to the police.
