Strong winds produced a sequence of outages that left around 6,500 customers without power in Salem and the Portland metro area early Thursday afternoon.
As of 1:40 p.m. Thursday, almost 6,440 people were without power, down from over 27,000 on Thursday morning. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reported several fallen trees as a result of severe weather, and the National Weather Service had issued a wind advisory for a large portion of the Willamette River that ended at 6 a.m. Thursday.
