On Sunday, a suspect released two aggressive dogs, resulting in three Chicago Police Department officers being hospitalized.
Before the incident, the officers were investigating a scene in the 4000 block of West Wilcox Avenue in West Garfield Park. At approximately 11:22 a.m., a female suspect attempted to intervene, and an unknown assailant subsequently set the dogs loose.
The Chicago Police Department clarified, “During the encounter, an unknown individual unleashed two canines.”
As a result, three officers suffered dog bites, and one officer discharged their weapon, injuring one of the canines.
The officers were transported to a local hospital and are in good condition. The dogs’ current condition is unknown. In connection with the incident, Chicago officers made one arrest.
“One female offender is in custody,” stated the Chicago police. “Charges are pending.” The Chicago Police Department is actively investigating the case, and no further details are available at this time.
