On December 4, 2024, Brian Kennedy II, a guy from Texas City, was taken into custody after he struck two parked police cars as they were looking into a collision on South IH 45. Kennedy, the only passenger in the dark vehicle, was arrested for showing symptoms of intoxication and trying to hide drugs.
Two League City police officers were investigating a crash in the southbound main lanes of the 1100 block of South IH 45 at around 7:11 p.m. To stop traffic, the cops had parked their patrol cars in the far-right lane and turned on their emergency lights. The officers were outside their cars when they heard a second crash and witnessed Kennedy’s automobile strike both patrol units.
Officers observed Kennedy attempting to conceal narcotics and displaying obvious indications of intoxication when they checked on him; he did not report any injuries. He was taken into custody right away for additional examination. Kennedy was also found to have been involved in a hit-and-run collision in nearby Webster during the course of the investigation. In order to collect information for their report, a Webster Police Department officer arrived.
Kennedy was charged with two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance PG 3 <28g ($5,000 Bond), Possession of Controlled Substance PG 2 <1g ($5,000 Bond), Driving While Intoxicated ($1,500 Bond), and Tampering with Physical Evidence ($5,000 Bond).
Neither the officers nor the people who were in the initial collision were hurt.
