Two Suspects Arrested After Fleeing From Officers in West University Place

Officers from the West University Place Police Department (WUPD) reacted to a broadcast from the Southside Place Police Department (SSPPD) about a suspicious activity event at around 2:34 p.m. on November 30, 2024. According to the report, two people were caught trespassing in the backyard of a Southside Place home.

Soon after, two people who fit the description were seen walking in the 3800 block of University Blvd. by a WUPD officer. The people escaped the scene and ran into the backyard of a house on University Boulevard when the authorities tried to make contact. The female suspect leaped a fence into a nearby Swarthmore Street home, while the male suspect—later identified as Judon Darnell Collins—was apprehended without incident.

Following a comprehensive search with the Southside Place Police Department’s help, the female suspect—Mary Crane—was found and arrested on the 3700 block of Bellaire Boulevard.

Crane and Collins are both accused of evading arrest or detention. One of the suspects told police during interrogation that they were there with the intention of stealing.

Charges for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance (three times), Theft (four times), Criminal Mischief, Resisting Arrest, Assault (two times), and Escape are among Judon Collins’ criminal history in Harris County.

Charges for Unauthorized Absence from a Community Corrections Facility, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Trespass, Vehicle Burglary, Avoiding Arrest or Detention, and Theft are among Mary Crane’s criminal history.
