The National Weather Service released an updated beach hazards statement for the Clatsop County Coast and Tillamook County Coast on Friday at 1:02 p.m., which will remain in force until Sunday at 10 p.m.
According to the weather service, “Sneaker waves possible.”
“During high tides, low-lying regions close to bays, sloughs, and the lower sections of the coastal rivers are likely to experience minor flooding, up to one foot above ground level. On a beach, waves can flow up much farther than usual, even over jetties and rocks. According to the weather agency, waves have the power to knock people from their feet and drag them into the icy ocean, where they could drown or suffer severe injuries.
