Winter Festival is back at Silver Falls State Park

Silver Falls is renowned for being enchanted almost all year round, but the state park gets a little more in the winter.

The hours of the Silver Falls Winter Festival are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department stated Monday that it will provide visitors with a variety of opportunities to learn more about the flora and fauna that surround the park’s well-known waterfall walks from December 14–15.

Every day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., park rangers will lead treks and teach participants how to recognize the trees and mushrooms that thrive in the forest. A variety of craft projects will be offered to assist anyone in creating wreaths, bird feeders, and bird nest boxes. Additionally, informative tables pertaining to the winter solstice, winter waterfalls, and other seasonal subjects will be arranged.

Two classes on winter plant propagation will be offered on Saturday by the Marion Soil and Water Conservation District. For those classes, registration in advance is essential.

A commemorative Silver Falls ornament is awarded to anyone who completes at least six of the activities.

Although admission to all activities is free, guests must present a valid yearly state park pass or pay $5 for a parking permit.
