Patrol units from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) arrived at Willowbrook Methodist Hospital on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, in response to an emergency report concerning Londyn Anthony, a four-year-old girl who had been taken to the ER with severe injuries. Londyn had blunt force brain injuries and other indications of abuse, according to the doctors’ diagnosis. The child’s injuries were so severe that she was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital, where she is now in critical condition.
Because the injuries were life-threatening, the HCSO Homicide Unit was summoned to look into the case. Investigators discovered that since September 2024, 26-year-old Tameria Barnett had been caring for Londyn. Since her mother’s imprisonment, Barnett, a friend of the child’s real mother, has been in charge of the child. Since September, Londyn had not heard from her father.
Authorities concluded that Barnett was accountable for the child’s injuries after speaking with him and the pediatric trauma doctors who cared for the infant. Barnett was consequently accused of causing harm to a child.
On November 29, 2024, HCSO investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Barnett and took her into jail. After that, she was arrested and is currently being held at the Harris County Jail. The incident is still being investigated.
