Allison Renae Wheeler, 48, was taken into custody at the Cameron County Courthouse in Brownsville, Texas, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at around 1:17 p.m., following the discovery of a tiny bag containing suspected narcotics during a routine security check.
Wheeler started to dump her pockets into the security inspection bowl as soon as she got to the courthouse, which is situated at 974 E. Harrison Street. She placed a tiny, clear plastic Ziploc bag filled with a transparent rocky substance into the bowl, and a Cameron County sheriff’s deputy watched. Wheeler pulled out the bag and tried to put it back in her pocket, realizing the drug had been observed.
After multiple requests, Wheeler complied with the deputy’s instructions to return the objects to the bowl. A narcotics field test kit was used to examine the material, and the results showed that amphetamines were present.
After being taken into custody, Wheeler was charged with a state jail felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (Texas Health and Safety Code 481.115(b)). She is awaiting arraignment after being taken to the Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center, located at 7100 Old Alice Road in Olmito, Texas, where she was booked.
