SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) arrested a man after making a traffic stop on July 16.
According to the source, the stop was initially for a seatbelt violation but quickly escalated.
In the afternoon, an officer noticed a vehicle with a passenger not wearing a seatbelt. The officer stopped the car and discovered that the passenger had an outstanding warrant.
The passenger was identified as 19-year-old Jesse Angel Tredway, who had a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
After identifying Tredway, authorities obtained a search warrant for his backpack.
Upon searching, they alleged they found cash, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and other items used in trafficking illegal drugs.

Tredway was arrested and taken to the Santa Fe Adult Detention Center.
He faces multiple charges, including six counts of trafficking, five counts of distribution of a controlled substance, violation of cannabis trafficking regulations, and a seatbelt violation.
