According to the source, The New York State Comptroller’s Office has accumulated these unclaimed funds over the years.

The good news: reclaiming these funds is free.
If the money isn’t claimed after several years, it will go into the state’s general fund, which helps pay for various programs and services.

The database will show if you’re owed any amount, even as little as $3 since 1985.
