Tyree Conerly, 22, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges related to the killing of 12-year-old Derrick Cash, who was shot 11 times on Michoud Boulevard in New Orleans East on January 3, 2022.
Conerly and his accomplice, Tyrese Harris, 21, were initially charged with second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit second-degree murder.
In a plea deal with prosecutors, Conerly admitted to conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, resulting in a 30-year prison sentence handed down by Orleans Parish Criminal District Court Judge Robin Pittman. As per to the sources nola and fox8live
Cash’s family did not object to the plea agreement, and no victim impact statements were presented during the sentencing.
Harris, who was 18 at the time of the shooting, had previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter and conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, receiving a 40-year prison sentence last year. Like Conerly’s hearing, Cash’s family chose not to speak.

Conerly’s plea deal included three additional cases. He pleaded guilty to charges of battery of a correctional officer, attempted second-degree murder, and armed robbery in two separate cases. In a third case, charges of bank fraud and identity theft were dropped.
Prosecutors requested that Judge Pittman allow Conerly to serve his sentences concurrently, meaning all sentences will be served simultaneously rather than consecutively.
Derrick Cash was a sixth grader at Thurgood Marshall Success Prep. Authorities indicated that his murder was part of a retaliatory feud between the Harris and Cash families.
