Bloods Gangster Arrested After Police Pursuit on 9W

Christopher Melvin, a 33-year-old from Poughkeepsie with ties to the Bloods gang, faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following a dramatic police pursuit on Route 9W.

The incident, which unfolded near Chapel Hill Road in the Town of Lloyd, began when Melvin failed to stop for troopers from the Community Stabilization Unit at approximately 12:14 p.m. As per to the sources midhudsonnews

Law enforcement officers, including those from the Town of Marlborough and Town of Newburgh police departments, joined the pursuit as Melvin’s 2017 Honda Civic traveled southbound on 9W, striking multiple civilian vehicles along the way.

The chase culminated in a collision with a Town of Marlborough police SUV near the Powelton Club in Newburgh, rendering Melvin’s vehicle inoperable.

Attempting to evade capture, Melvin exited his vehicle, damaging a Town of Newburgh police unit, and fled on foot across a golf course.

Officers swiftly apprehended him at the scene. Upon his arrest, Melvin was found in possession of fentanyl, amphetamines, and crack cocaine.

Melvin was arraigned in Town of Plattekill Court and is now held at Ulster County Jail on bail set at $100,000 cash, $200,000 bond, or $400,000 partially-secured bond.

His charges include two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, among others related to drug possession and reckless endangerment.

This arrest comes years after Melvin’s involvement in a federal drug sweep targeting the Bloods street gang in 2010, highlighting ongoing law enforcement efforts to combat organized crime in the Hudson Valley region.
