Allsup’s Brings Its Iconic Burritos to East Texas: New Location Announced!

Allsup’s, a beloved gas station and convenience store brand, is making its way to East Texas.

While many Texans are familiar with the popular “Buc-ee’s,” especially in other parts of the state, it’s Allsup’s that holds a special place in the hearts of those from West Texas cities like Amarillo and Lubbock.

The Legacy of Allsup’s

Founded by Lonnie and Barbara Allsup in Roswell, New Mexico, back in 1956 as Lonnie’s Drive-In Grocery, Allsup’s has grown significantly.

Today, it boasts hundreds of locations across Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.

Its signature fried burritos and chimichangas have become cult favorites, cherished by road travelers and gaining popularity on social media.

Expansion to East Texas

According to a report by CBS19, Allsup’s is set to open a new store in East Texas.

The upcoming location will be situated on State Highway 31 West and County Road 1137 in Smith County, conveniently placed between Tyler and Chandler.

The project, which started on July 22, is expected to be completed by December 17 of this year.

Allsup’s Strategic Expansion

Allsup’s parent company, Yesway, announced earlier this year that they plan to expand the brand with nine new stores near Fort Worth and eight near Dallas.

Unlike other brands that are focusing on large, extravagant stores, Allsup’s is opting for a more modest approach.

According to the source, they are introducing “bodega style” Allsup’s Express stores, which don’t include gas pumps.

These stores are mainly located in college towns, catering to the needs of budget-conscious college students who love affordable and tasty burritos.

A Store Every Three Weeks

Allsup’s has been opening a new store every three weeks in mid-size Texas cities.

This steady expansion is part of their strategy to make the brand more accessible to more Texans, especially those who might not have easy access to their favorite convenience store items.

Personal Experience with Allsup’s

I’ve had the chance to visit Allsup’s during my travels, and while I wouldn’t say the burritos are the best I’ve ever had, there’s something comforting about them.
