A customer at Rio Grande Liquidators in Albuquerque, New Mexico, brought back a ceiling fan on May 28, seeking a refund. However, the store’s policy didn’t allow for refunds, leading to an unfortunate escalation.
According to the store clerk, the customer, identified as Steven Parson, became argumentative when told he couldn’t get his $80 back.
The situation took a darker turn when Parson left the store but returned shortly after, armed with a gun.
The clerk described how Parson’s demands intensified, stating, “He wanted his money refunded but store policy is ‘no money back.’”
Parson allegedly threatened the clerk, saying there would be a problem if he didn’t get his refund.
According to the source, Parson’s actions escalated when he flashed a gun, demanding the clerk open the cash register.
The clerk recalled the intense moment, saying, “He said we are going to have a big problem, and I said, ‘What do you want me to do?’ He said, ‘Give me my money back.'”
The situation ended with Parson taking the money and leaving the store. Security footage showed what appeared to be a gun in his left hand as he exited.
The police used a previous transaction, where Parson bought a refrigerator earlier in May, to track him down.

This purchase, along with information about a different vehicle he was driving, led them to his address.
Parson was arrested a few weeks later and is now facing charges of armed robbery. His criminal history includes offenses like car theft and fleeing from police.
