Governor Kathy Hochul, in collaboration with Amtrak and the New York State Department of Transportation, announced the launch of a direct train service for the upcoming Great New York State Fair.
This new daily service offers a safe, convenient, and environmentally friendly way for fairgoers to travel to the state’s largest annual event.
The Fair, known for its top musical performances, agricultural exhibits, family fun, and delicious food, runs from August 21 to September 2.
Tickets are now available on Amtrak’s website, mobile app, station ticket counters, and by calling 1-800-USA-RAIL.
Governor Hochul highlighted the Fair’s attractions, including food, music, rides, games, and agricultural exhibits. She emphasized that the direct train service makes it easier for everyone to enjoy the event safely.
The train service provides a hassle-free travel experience, allowing visitors to avoid tolls, traffic, parking fees, and gas costs.
The trains will stop at the State Fair station, conveniently located near the Suburban Park concert area, making it easy for attendees to access the fairgrounds.
The train schedule includes the following routes:
- Maple Leaf Train 64: Departs Toronto at 8:20 a.m., and arrives at the Fair at 2:28 p.m.
- Empire Service Train 281: Departs New York at 10:21 a.m., and arrives at the Fair at 4:19 p.m.
- Empire Service Train 283: Departs New York at 1:21 p.m., and arrives at the Fair at 7:11 p.m.
- Empire Service Train 284: Departs Niagara Falls at 6:27 a.m., and arrives at the Fair at 9:23 a.m.
Marie Therese Dominguez, New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner, expressed her enthusiasm for the Fair, describing it as one of the premier attractions in the Northeast.

Julie LaFave, New York State Fair Director, emphasized the importance of making the Fair accessible to as many New Yorkers as possible.
She encouraged everyone to consider train travel as a comfortable and convenient option for visiting the Fair.
Ray Lang, Amtrak Vice President of State Supported Services, expressed pride in continuing the tradition of providing train service to the Fair, noting the benefits of train travel for visitors before and after enjoying the event’s fun, food, and games.
Amtrak has been providing train service to the New York State Fair since 2002. The station code for the Fair is NYF.
Customers can save on their trips with Amtrak’s See NY and Save discount by booking online at least five days in advance. Additional discounts are available for kids, seniors, military groups, and more.
Amtrak trains offer free Wi-Fi, Business Class seats, a café car, and ample legroom, making the journey comfortable and convenient.
