ATLANTA — The 2024 Presidential Election is heating up as Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic nominee, is set to visit Atlanta on Tuesday.
Georgia, a key battleground state, was crucial in Joe Biden’s 2020 victory, and Harris aims to keep it in the Democratic column this year.
In 2020, Georgia played a pivotal role, helping Biden secure the presidency. Harris has visited the state multiple times, addressing environmental policies, gun violence, and raising campaign funds.
According to the source, this upcoming visit marks her first as the leading Democratic candidate for president.
“Georgia can proudly say that our vote matters, making us a true battleground state,” remarked state Sen. Jason Estevez (D-Atlanta), a prominent supporter of Harris, on Thursday.
In the 2020 elections, Biden narrowly defeated Donald Trump in Georgia.
The state then saw Republicans rebound in the 2022 elections, with Brian Kemp winning against a range of Democratic challengers, except for U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock.
Recent polls show that with Harris leading the Democratic ticket, Georgia is once again in a tight race against Republican Donald Trump.
DeKalb CEO Michael Thurmond, speaking at a rally, expressed optimism about Harris’s potential historic victory, predicting a record turnout.
Despite Trump’s 2020 defeat in Georgia, Republicans believe the state still leans Republican and will likely do so again in November. On the other hand, Democrats are preparing for an intense effort to win the state.

“We’re already mobilizing. Volunteers are actively knocking on doors across the state for Vice President Harris,” Estevez said.
Both Republicans and Democrats are ramping up their efforts, opening offices in Georgia and recruiting volunteers for door-to-door campaigning and phone calls this fall.
