Man Charged with Intoxication and Manslaughter in Houston Crash

HOUSTON – Houston police reported that a man was arrested in connection with a fatal crash that occurred early on Friday morning. The police stated that Eduardo Umana Cordona, 25, had been charged with intoxication and manslaughter. The incident took place at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Friday in the 800 block of the Southwest Freeway.

Umana Cordona was driving a red Kia Sorrento in the wrong direction (eastbound) on the freeway when it collided head-on with a westbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle, resulting in a fire.

Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene and declared the 42-year-old motorcyclist deceased. Umana Cordona and a male passenger, both aged 25, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals.

Upon investigation, the police determined that Umana Cordona was intoxicated. He received medical treatment at the hospital before being taken into custody.
