The Orioles have made a significant trade move by acquiring left-handed pitcher Trevor Rogers from the Miami Marlins.
In return, the Marlins receive infielder/outfielder Connor Norby and outfielder Kyle Stowers. This trade marks a key shift in the Orioles’ lineup as they gear up for the rest of the season.
Trevor Rogers, at 26, has had an eventful season so far. With a record of 2-9 and a 4.53 ERA (53 ER/105.1 IP), Rogers has allowed 115 hits (including 12 home runs), 58 total runs, 46 walks (2 intentional), hit three batters, and struck out 85 in 21 starts.
Since June 9, he’s shown improvement, posting a 3.17 ERA (17 ER/48.1 IP) and allowing two runs or fewer in eight of his last nine starts.
A 2021 National League All-Star, Rogers had a standout year, finishing second in the NL Rookie of the Year voting, just behind Jonathan India of the Reds.
His career began when Miami selected him in the first round (13th overall) of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft, right out of Carlsbad (NM) High School.
On the other side, Connor Norby, 24, has shown potential in his brief time with the Orioles. He’s slashing .188/.188/.406 (6-for-32) with one double, two home runs, three runs scored, and three RBIs in nine games this season.
According to the source, Norby made his MLB debut on June 3 against Toronto and hit his first career home run the following day.
He is currently ranked as the No. 5 prospect for the Orioles and the No. 9 second base prospect overall by MLB Pipeline.
Norby was selected by Baltimore in the second round (41st overall) of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft out of East Carolina University (NC).
Kyle Stowers, 26, has also had a notable year, batting .306/.297/.500 (11-for-36) with four doubles, one home run, three runs scored, and nine RBIs in 19 games with Baltimore.
Stowers debuted in the MLB on June 13, 2022, and hit his first major league home run on August 25, 2022, with a game-tying solo blast off Liam Hendriks in the ninth inning.

To fill the active roster, the Orioles have called up infielder/outfielder Terrin Vavra from Triple-A Norfolk. Vavra, who will wear No. 23, joins the team as the Orioles’ 40-man roster remains full.
