SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio police had to disband a gathering at a park on the Northeast Side as thousands of individuals gathered to meet a popular TikTok influencer.
On Saturday, Cam Wilder used TikTok to announce his presence at Lady Bird Johnson Park on the following Sunday. Reportedly, around 3,000 to 4,000 people turned up. Although the crowd remained peaceful, its size posed an “immediate threat to public safety,” prompting the police to order everyone to disperse.
The SAPD reported two injuries – a juvenile who suffered a heat-related ailment and another individual who sustained a head injury from a fall near the pool area. Wilder, a former college basketball player, boasts a significant social media following, particularly on TikTok, where he has 5.5 million followers.
He is renowned for sharing humorous videos and basketball-related content, often organizing park takeovers and streetball tournaments. Additionally, Wilder coaches an AAU team called Rod Wave Elite, which participates in tournaments across the nation and has gained recognition not only for their on-court skills but also for their social media presence.
