Texas Gov. Abbott Slams Kamala Harris for Border Crisis: ‘Zero Contact!

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has sharply criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for not reaching out to discuss border security.

Abbott, speaking on “Faulkner Focus” Monday, highlighted Harris’s lack of communication despite her role as “border czar.”

“President Biden clearly assigned Kamala Harris the task of managing the border,” Abbott said. “Yet, she has not contacted me even once, though I oversee a state that is central to this issue.”

He added that the Biden-Harris administration has not met its responsibilities, whether or not Harris holds the title of “border czar.”

Recent reports reveal that 383 known terrorists have been caught at the border during the Biden administration. This figure does not account for those who got away.

Abbott criticized the administration’s handling of border security, stating, “We cannot know how many terrorists are in our country because the Biden-Harris administration has failed to secure the border.”

He warned that if a major attack like 9/11 occurred, it would be partly due to Harris’s failures.

As Harris prepares for a visit to Houston this week, Abbott suggested she could redeem herself by supporting a bill introduced by Senator Ted Cruz.

The bill, named “Justice for Jocelyn Nungaray,” aims to keep dangerous migrants detained. It was named in memory of a 12-year-old Texas girl who was tragically murdered last month by two alleged migrants.

Jon Anfinsen, VP of the National Border Patrol Council, also criticized Harris for her lack of engagement with border patrol agents.

He echoed Abbott’s concerns, blaming the Biden administration for increasing illegal crossings and the misuse of the asylum system.

Anfinsen criticized the administration for abandoning Trump-era policies that he believes would have reduced illegal crossings.

He also noted that Border Patrol is struggling with morale and recruitment issues, attributing this to the administration’s lack of support.

The Biden administration had tasked Harris with addressing migration issues in March 2021, focusing on diplomatic efforts with Northern Triangle countries.

While apprehensions from these countries have decreased, overall illegal crossings have reached record highs. In 2023, over 30,000 migrants from China were apprehended, highlighting the global scale of the issue.
