A Texas attorney, Jody Hall, has been arrested on charges related to attempting to sell or purchase unborn children.
Hall, who founded an adoption agency, was booked into the Hays County Jail on July 23. She was released shortly after posting a $50,000 bond.
Court records indicate that the charges were issued in Tarrant County, and the investigation began in May.
According to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, Hall was allegedly paying pregnant inmates in Tarrant County to place their unborn children up for adoption through her agency.
According to the source, this practice is considered a third-degree felony in Texas, where buying or selling children is illegal.
Hall is the founder and executive director of Adoptions International Inc., and she is also an attorney licensed to practice family and immigration law in Texas.
