Houston, Texas — An unsettling discovery was made in southwest Houston, where a newborn baby was found in a dumpster.
The incident occurred on Sunday, and authorities have charged 18-year-old Everilda Cux-Ajtzalam with abandoning a child.
According to the Houston Police Department, Cux-Ajtzalam is currently in the hospital.

The baby, named Gabriel, was found behind an apartment complex on Dashwood Drive.
Witnesses at the scene reported that a taco truck employee had given birth inside a nearby food truck. After the birth, the mother allegedly placed the baby in the dumpster and returned to clean the mobile restaurant.

In a video captured by bystanders, EMS workers are seen next to a dumpster filled with trash, carefully wrapping the newborn in a blanket.
Gabriel appeared to have wet hair, a fresh umbilical cord, and pink, pruned skin. Thankfully, after being taken to the hospital, he was found to be in good health and is now under the care of Child Protective Services.
