In a press conference upon his return, Governor Abbott explained that the trip was planned months in advance and was critical for fostering economic and diplomatic ties with key Asian partners. “While the timing was unfortunate, the meetings were essential for Texas’s long-term economic interests,” Abbott stated. He assured Texans that he remained in constant contact with state emergency officials and was actively involved in managing the response efforts remotely.
Governor Abbott emphasized that Texas has a robust disaster response system in place, led by experienced professionals capable of handling crises even in his absence. “Our emergency management team is highly skilled and equipped to manage such situations. I was fully briefed and provided direction as needed throughout my trip,” he said.
